Model Number: KG-LG-00120
Key Specifications/Special Features:
It is produced by permanently bonding two pieces of glasstogether with a tough plastic inter-layer (polyvinyl butyral) underheat and pressureThe inter-layer material is invisible when viewed through theglassWith glass on either side, the finished lite isindistinguishable from monolithis glass when installed in aframeMost often, laminated glass is produced from annealed glass, but heat strengthened or tempered can be used when specialperformance needs are required. Polyvinyl butyral (or PVB) is aresin usually used for applications that require strong binding, optical clarity, adhesion to many surfaces, toughness andflexibilityIt is prepared from polyvinyl alcohol by reaction withbutyraldehydeThe major application is for laminated safety glass forautomobile windshields and constructionsIt is a combination of two or more glass sheets with one ormore inter-layers of plastic (PVB) or resin
In case of breakage, the interlayer holds the fragmentstogether and continues to provide resistance to the passage ofpersons or objects
This glass is particularly suitable where it is important toensure the resistance of the whole sheet after breakage such as:Shop-fronts, balconies, stair-railings, roof glazing
Production:- There are two types of laminated glass:
- PVB and resin laminated glass: PVB laminated glass is two ormore sheets of glass which are bonded together with one or morelayers (PVB) under heat and pressure to form a single piece
- Resins laminated glass is manufactured by pouring liquid resininto the cavity between two sheets of glass which are held togetheruntil the resin cures
Features:
- It is formed as sandwich of 2 sheets of glass bonded to a toughand thermoplastic polyvinyl butyral (PVB) inter-layer
- It is also a safety material against destroy and theft withoutfragment splashing down when broken
Applications:
- Furniture
- Architecture
- Windows and skylights
